Schalke bosses have finally come up with one-year contract extension for Raul Gonzalez, who is eager to part ways at the end of this season. The Veltins-Arena officials were continuously being pressurised by the fans and the German
media over the player’s future and the club had begun negotiations with the player’s representatives at the start of the month.
Raul’s contract is set to expire at the end of this season after which the player is likely to return to Spain for a coaching role at Real Madrid or sign with a Major League Soccer outfit.

The club officials have confirmed that financial barriers are preventing them to extend Raul’s contract by two years. They stated that it is already the best offer they could come up with and now it is up to Raul to decide.
While talking to Sky Television, Schalke president, Clemens Tonnies further added: “We have made him a good offer for one season. It’s now up to him to make a decision. We expect a decision in the upcoming weeks.”
