Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt proud of his team despite the defeat in the Champions League
Schalke’04 Sporting Director, Horst Heldt, is proud of his team’s effort despite losing the UEFA Champions League semi-final against Manchester United.
Schalke lost the second-leg of the semi-final 4-1 at Old Trafford and went onto lose 6-1 on aggregate score. Heldt is disappointed with the loss but he still hailed his players for making it that far in the competition.

quarter-finals to reach the last-four round of the competition for the first time in their history.
Heldt praised United’s game over the two-legs and believes that they deserved to be on the winning side.
Talking to the reporters, Heldt said, "We've played a superb Champions League season. It included a historical victory against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 [in the quarter-finals] which people will talk about in the subsequent years. If you're in the semis, of course, you want
to reach the final. Of course, we're disappointed."
"People say that they played with their B team, but they were still first class. We couldn't stand them but that was also the situation in the first-leg. We deserved to be beaten.” Added the 41-year-old
The former Stuttgart midfielder added that some of his players lacked experience of playing in the competition and United took full advantage of their inexperience at the top level. Heldt urged his players not to get carried away after reaching the semi-finals
of the competition and told them to stay grounded. The former German International has also urged the players to learn from their mistakes and take positives out of the defeat.
