Schalke forward, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, has stated that he hopes to win the DFB Pokal final against MSV Duisburg on Saturday and end the season with silverware. The player, who has missed most of the season through injury, claimed that he is fit to play and
perform for his side.
The striker has made 31 appearances for the German club this season and has scored 11 goals. His maiden season with the club has been plagued with injuries and the player’s form has not helped him either.
Huntelaar was disappointed with the club’s loss to FC Koln in the final game of the Bundesliga season. He insisted that a win would have been a perfect practice for the German Cup final but added that the defeat almost sums up Schalke’s Bundesliga season.
The Dutchman revealed that the game against Duisburg is a massive one and a win is very important. He claimed that there is no pressure whatsoever on the team as they have already secured the League status but have to fight for the UEFA Europa League place
in the final.
“Well, everyone wants to win every Bundesliga game. But a match against Koln of course was not as important as the Pokal final. The pressure is gone, too, because we have avoided relegation and still fought for a Europa League place. For us it is very important
that we snatch the Pokal,” he was quoted as saying.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-c30728 Madrid and AC Milan attacker also played down reports of a summer exit. He stated that he has a contract with the Gelsenkirchen outfit and he will definitely honour it.
“No, I see my future here at Schalke. I respect my contract, which runs for two more years. And I am concerned with nothing other than FC Schalke,” the 27-year old affirmed.
