Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar rued missed chances against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfL-Wolfsburg-c40881 in last weekend’s fixture and insisted that his side could have won the match. He claimed that Schalke had dominated the first-half but conceded two
goals because of mistakes from their own players which led to the loss.
Die Knappen lost to Felix Magath’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-c30652 but conceded two goals later in the match and were deprived of
the three points.
Huntelaar insisted that his side wasted a brilliant chance of winning the match. He claimed that Schalke played tremendously well and started brilliantly with a goal but some silly mistakes later in the match cost the team. He
admitted that the display in the second period was not up to the mark and the side failed to hold possession well enough.
“We really should have won this game. We started strongly and were clearly the better team in the first half. Then we conceded two really stupid goals. We played far too timidly. We needed to hold onto the ball much longer in certain
situations,” he was quoted as saying in an interview to Bundesliga.de.
The Dutch international had two chances in the match to score but wasted both the opportunities and failed to find the net. He further added that luck was not on his side against Wolfsburg as he failed to score in the clash.
“The angle was tight on the first chance and with the second the ball bobbled in the exact moment I wanted to shoot. It made it very difficult to control and I was also missing that little bit of luck,” he concluded.
The former Real Madrid and AC Milan striker has had a sensational start to the season as he has already scored 12 goals from six total appearances for the German giants. The player had a poor last season as he found the net only
13 times in 35 appearances.
