Schalke midfielder Lewis Holtby has praised new manager Huub Stevens and insisted that he has made a great impression on the team in his first outing against Maccabi Haifa in the UEFA Europa League clash. He stated that the next
clashes in the competition are tough ones and the team has to be more careful.
Schalke defeated Maccabi Haifa 3-1 in the Group-J of the UEFA Europa League clash courtesy goals from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-c23383 Jurado. They were mighty impressive after the interval and continued their unbeaten run in the competition
so far.
Die Knappen lead the Group-J with four points from the two games played in the Europa League and are ahead of Maccabi Haifa, Steaua Bucharest and AEK Larnaca.
The youngster heaped praise on the new manager Huub Stevens and admitted that the tactician has made an instant impact since he has joined. Former manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ralf-c30492 Rangnick stepped down from his post earlier this month due to health
issues and the club appointed Stevens as his replacement. The midfielder claimed that the team has connected with the new boss and are enjoying his way of playing.
“Huub Stevens has made a good impression on us; he's a man with a vision. Everyone's following what he wants, and we're enjoying it,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The German international warned his side against complacency and stated that the group is not over and there is still work to do. He claimed that the next clash will be vital in qualification for the next phase against AEK Larnaca.
The player is hopeful to continue with the impressive performances and is confident of going through.
“Everyone will think that [AEK] Larnaca are the group minnows, but every game is difficult – it's still the Europa League. We saw that against Helsinki; everyone thought we'd beat them comfortably but it went the other way. We
have to be focused and show our strengths in every game,” he concluded.
Schalke will next face Hamburg in the Bundesliga this weekend to keep the tabs on the likes of Bayern Munich and Werder Bremen.
