Schalke’s Ralf Rangnick wants to retain Manuel Neuer and praises Manchester United on their triumph
Schalke 04’s manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Neuer-c23424, and also reserved praise for Manchester United. The German was talking in the wake of his team’s semi-final defeat to the Red Devils in the second
leg of the UEFA Champions League.
Schalke received a thrashing at the hands of the Red Devils by a 4-1 margin courtesy a brace from the Brazilian Anderson. This victory signalled the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues exit from the competition and as a result, Manchester United advance through to the finals where
they’ll be locking heads with the Spanish giants Barcelona.
Rangnick hoped that the shot-stopper would stay with the side despite the club failing to make it for the Champions League next season. He had a lot of confidence in the 25-year-old but was disappointed by the fact that Neuer has refused to sign a contract
extension with the club.
A host of clubs have shown interest in signing the goalkeeper including the Red Devils, Manchester United. The shot-stopper, though, has confirmed he doesn’t have any intentions of leaving http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904, which rules out the possibility of him making a move to
United. Bayern Munich have publicly followed the player’s signature and Neuer looks set to depart at the end of this season.
After losing to United at Old Trafford, former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfB-Stuttgart-c40879 manager added, "Regarding Neuer there is nothing new. He has a contract and I hope that he stays. We don't think about [Hannover goalkeeper Ron-Robert] Zieler because we have Neuer. We started
well, the first 25 minutes we had more possession, but after a misplaced pass we conceded the first goal.”
He also hailed the efforts of Sir Alex Fergusson’s side who were outstanding in the midfield. He accepted that the Royal Blues were completely outclassed by a quality United outfit and wished them success in the final of the competition.
The coach concluded by saying, “You can't afford this on such a [high] level and then the game took another direction. You have to say Manchester United were too good for us, we were hitting our limits."
Schalke are currently 10th in the Bundesliga with 40 points and are left with two games that would end this year’s campaign.
