Scheduling?

I understand a lot about baseball, but I was wonder why do the Brewers have to play 9 games at wrigley, yet the cubs only have to play 7 at miller park? That is 16 games, why not make it even and play 8 at each others park?

So this being the case, does that mean that next year the brewers host the cubs 9 times?

  1. The Chicago Cubs have more games on the road this year against my favorite team, the St. Louis Cardinals. I don't think its fair for teams to have more games on the road against another team than games at home. I don't think creating an unfair schedule for next year would solve this year's problem at all. I hope next year the schedule will be more balanced. MLB schedules two series against every different division team, except the Cardinals and Phillies are playing in three series this year. They usually alternate between different division in interleague play, and if there is an instate rival, like the Royals and Cardinals, or Rays and Marlins, two series are played between the two. I do not know exactly how Bud Selig determines the home/road schedule, except that every team has the same amount of home games as road games. I do know that when the Cardinals played the Rays in 2005 it was at Tropicana Field, while this year it was at Busch Stadium. So I guess they do try to even out the amount of games at home or on the road in later seasons.
