Question:

Schengen visa, French embassy and Travel document?

Hello

Does anyone have experience in getting a short-term Schengen visa in his/her travel document (i.e. reentry permit)?

French refuses to stamp one in the travel document even though it's an option on visa application. And I heard people actually get visas in other embassies (Germany).

Any help is appreciated!!!

  1. which country are you from? i do not understand why they would not give you a visa? have you overstayed anywhere on a visa?

of course if you are an US citizen you do not need a visa, you can try another country as well, yes, i read that it will cost you more, but if France does not give you a visa, you have no other choice but to go to the nearest country, take the train to Paris after entering Germany,if you had a refusal stamped in your passport? (hope not) you will have a hard time to get one elsewhere as well.....

you could try Germany or Luxembourg? which are the closer ones.

  2. Apply in the Embassy that has no strict requirements for the Schengen visa.  Anyway, you can use it in all of the countries covered.

  3. I recently got a transit visa from French Embassy in Turkey. I was waiting 18 hours between flights so i decided to apply for a transit visa to stay overnight. If you submit you residence permit of your country with a bank statement you will get it easily. It only took me a day to get the visa. Another thing you need to have a travel insurance for 5 days for transit visa. If you get from German embassy may be in the border you can`t get it as which ever country embassy you get the visa you need to enter that particular country first.
