What are the scholarship essays usually about?

How long should the college admission essay be approximately?

Usually just a general writing sample about anything, but make sure it's your best writing. Have an English teacher approve it. I'd say no more than two pages.

The lengths will vary depending on the school (they will tell you). Typically, there are 2 objectives that admissions is looking for in your essay. First, your writing ability! Be sure that your essay is STELLAR as far as writing, conventions, focus, etc.

The 2nd thing they are looking for is your unique "voice" and why you would be a benefit to their school. It never hurts to learn a bit about each school's current and upcoming projects, so that you can tweak your essay to sound like the perfect potential student!
