  1. Most people who complain about costs, but want to study English, come to New York City on a tourist visa and then find a school that offers student visas (you can find them on-line before you leave home) and go there and apply for a student visa.  Alternatively, you could find a school on-line which says it offers student visas, and then apply to that school on-line before you ever leave home.  You may be able to get a student visa before you come here.

Here is one place that you can look

People who come to New York City seem to believe that if they have a student visa they are entitled to work while they are going to school (I don't know about the legalities of that, but I know that they believe that).  The school I have mentioned is generally considered to be very cheap, but very good.

  2. Take a look at this directory for scholarships and scholarships organizations:

    Good luck!

  3. There are many opportunities available, depending on your background and the country you are from.

go to http:/www.surveyking.net/college and you can find search tools that help you find scholarships based on a number of interests.
