Scholes Wants Title
Manchester United midfield player, Paul Scholes, says the priority for the club this season is to get their Premier League title back from Chelsea.
Scholes has played a large part in many title winning United teams and he will know better than anyone else what is needed to bounce back in style. He says that every single part of the club has to come together if Chelsea are going to be ousted from their position.
Scholes is not getting any younger and it's important that the other members of the United squad step-up to ease the pressure on someone who is edging ever closer to retirement. The team have the players but lack the consistency at the moment.
Scholes is likely to play a big personal role in United's title push this season. However, other clubs have made drastic improvements and United are going to have to fight off title challenges coming at them from all angles when the new Premier League season starts.
Scholes
Scholes was not in the side for extended periods of time last season and he was missed during some bad results for the team. He has experience from playing many seasons with United and it's important he helps prepare the younger members of the squad for how they will need to react.
Another new season means that Scholes is another year older along with other members of the United team. The side cannot keep looking to the likes of Scholes and Ryan Giggs to get them out of trouble.
Scholes said: "It wasn't great for us. Obviously we would have liked to have won the league, but the injuries we had last year were a massive blow for us. We just hope we can stay injury-free next season, play a bit better and hopefully win some more trophies."
Others
There are a whole host of other clubs that are going to be pushing harder than ever before to try and win the Premier League. Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are all going to be in with a shout of winning the league and the developing strength of these sides could be a little too much for the current United team.
United are lacking one or two really high quality players that would do their title chances the world of good. They lack the ability to sign big name players now in comparison to their city rivals, Manchester City. It's going to be much harder for them to win the Premier League this season.
Scholes added: "It's always been a competitive league and last season showed that. Spurs had a bit more money to spend and they spent it well - Obviously Manchester City, with all their money, just missed out on the Champions League, but I'm sure they will be right up there again this season."
Advice
There is no such thing as a really bad Manchester United team and they will always be contenders for the Premier League. They are a side going through a transition at the moment and unless they make the quality additions, like their rivals are doing, then they will not win the league again for another two or three years.
Scholes is a good player to back in one-off matches. He will not be the top scorer at the club by the end of the season or the top scorer in the Premier League. If you are uncertain like a lot of others about United then the best option is to wait for a few games of the new season and see how the side start playing.
