**not being racist at all please dont take this the wrong way**

There are scholorships out there for absolutely anything. To list a few,

being g*y/L*****n

being transgender

certain last names

being of indian decent

being of african american decent

being of asian decent

being blind

and so on. Now, what happens to the "normal" Caucasian Americans that dont have any of these attributes? we get screwed.

Again, please dont take this as racism its just a controversial question.

  1. what your question deals with is the classic affirmative action dispute started by Nixon during his administration.  Because those of indian, african american and other minority groups had been supressed in the past by the minority past, now whites are left without any aid financially.  I know it's unfair but most would say that being enslaved and denied rights for hundreds of years would be unfair too.  So whether you find it to be reverse discrimination or just simply making up for the past, it is what it is.

  2. You say "please dont take this as racism its just a controversial question." but let's be honest your controversial statement is grounded in racism.

What happened to "normal" Caucasian Americans, they are still the majority when it comes to university enrollment and scholarship awards. So there are a lot of scholarships available to "white" students.

The specialty scholarships are only needed to "create" balance enrollments were there obviously isn't any. It's meant to attract minorities, who wouldn't consider college otherwise gain entry.

Caucasian students aren't getting screwed, honestly, they aren't. While you are seeing awards advertised to minority groups based on religious and racial characterisitics, how many students can they really fund, maybe a few hundred on a national scale, that's not a lot.

You don't seem bitter about sport scholarships, alummni grants etc, why?

Just study for your SATs/GREs exams, apply early (an underrated option when it comes to scholarship application) and apply like crazy to all of the scholarships you qualify for.

  3. The scholarship types you listed are in addition to the 'regular' ones for 'normal' people, not instead of them. There are thousands of scholarships and grants that anybody at all can apply for.  And also for people majoring in specific fields of study.  And for people whose parents are/were in certain military units.  And for people whose grade point average is at or above a certain level.  And for people who live in the state offering the financial aid.  And for people who are willing to come work after graduation at a variety of professions in areas that need them for a specified length of time.  And for people who belong to various religious denominations or to specific churches.  And for people whose parents belong to labor unions or service clubs or work for certain companies.  Try applying for some of these.

    Edit

White males -- and yes, even the poorest white males got SOME benefit from the (then) status quo, used to own the entire pie, the whole enchilada.  Not your fault...You weren't born yet...So what.  Complaining because the formerly ALL-powerful group you belong to through no fault of your own must now share resources  -- most sectors about which you complain not even existing in noticeable quantity back in the 'good old days' -- with others, most of whom belong to their own groups through no fault of their own, IS most definitely  -ist of one variety or another, whether you intend it so or not.

  4. You can get a merit scholarship, which does not discriminate by sexual orientation, last name, race, origin or disability.

All you have to do is have an excellent GPA, good standardized test scores and fill a few forms.
