School Activity.....

What do you think about competitively running? I am trying to help my friend decide on whether or not he should run for fun by himself (or with a friend) or run competitively. He loves to run, however does not like to race. He also enjoys being in shape after practice, but none of his friends will be on the team this year. What do you think I should tell him to do (I will show him this yahoo page... Maybe one of you can help him decide!) Thanks!

  1. Your friend could also try joining a local running club (there are some that do group runs but that don't race competitively)

If he wants to just run on his own - gmaps pedometer can be a great tool to plan out a route

LetsRun.com has message boards (where he might connect with other runners)

also - the site I work for has a list of some other running resources

  2. well even if he doesnt like races den i think u still shud encourage to let him try 2 racce.. i mean he might like it... h**l never know unless he tries ^.^

  3. Running is definately fun. I used to be on a team in my senior year but had many other sports I was more better at. they had practice 3 days a week and I did not exactly like the schedule as it conflicted with my study time and relaxing time befor chores and things I had to accomplish. It was rigorous as far as the training and I was in good shape and faster than most girls but when it came to the training requirements I did not want to bother with it after two weeks. I would suggest to your friend to go to the training and see if he enjoys it. There will be a schedule to follow which may fit in with his and lastly he will have to make up his mind to be a speed demon and whip everyones rear ends but that would only be during races so thats not bad. It is actually good to give it your best occasionally testing his limits. I would say check it out and if the suit fits, wear it-if it does'nt then pass it on and drop it. aloha taz
