  1. my counselor helped me pick my classes every year and if you had a problem you would go talk to them and they helped you with scholarship stuff for college.

  2. Most schools have school counselors. They are just people a student can go to talk to about anything that is troubleing them. They can talk to them about anything, from family issues, to bad grades. its just a person that a student can talk to and vent about problems they might be having.

  3. They are people that the school hires to help the students at school have a positive learning experiance in the school. Most schools have them, at least every school i have been to.  They are there so that if any student has problems at school, or at home, they have somebody to talk to about their problems.  For example, people being bullied may go their, some students with friendship issues, or even kids/students that are having trouble at home with things like parents getting a divorce, or fighting with siblings.  Other things they may talk about is peer pressure, or drugs.  On the positive side, counsellors love to hear good new too! Like, your mom just had a baby and now you have a little brother, or you got an A on a really hard test.

Counsellors are their for students to talk to, and no not everyone goes to see them, just if you want to.  Their job includes talking and meeting with students, sometimes they are in charge of clubs or sports, and sometimes they teach programs like teaching students about the danger of drugs, or a s*x ed program.

    Hope this helps!

  4. They are just people that talk to kids about their problems at home, school, or anywhere else. Sometimes in High Schools they help a lot of the kids decide what they want to do with their futures and stuff like that. Most schools have them. =]

  5. They basically have two purposes. One is to talk to kids who are having emotional problems, etc. The other purpose is to help kids plan their schedules, choose their classes, apply to colleges (or universities, to put it in Brit-speak), and so on. Every school has at least one, and everyone usually goes to see them at least when they're planning their schedule or going through the higher education application process.

  6. In high school, the school counselors primarily concern themselves with helping students with scheduling classes and preparing college applications. If you wanted a class schedule change, you would go to the counselor. If you wanted to have a specific college come to your school, you would ask the counselor. In elementary and middle schools, they mostly deal with paperwork. I went to an inner city school, and we were told that we could go to them for personal problems and the like, but we were usually sent to the school nurse that was never there. Perhaps it is different in other school systems. But that is my experience.

  7. My mom used to be a high school guidance counselor.  They're there for students to talk to about stress, mental health issues, etc.  They also help you plan your class schedule and advise students about college applications and career plans.

  8. My school has them.  Counselorss are people the students can talk to about problems. Home or school related.  Theconsolesors help them with their problems.  Not every school has them apparently, because you said that you don't have one.  Not everyone has to see the counselor.
