School Group Travel Insurance?

I'm planning a trip for 6 students and myself to France this summer. We don't want to go with a tour group and haven't had any problems until now. I'm looking for a company that will give use both liability insurance and medical coverage during our trip. Does anyone have any advice?

If you're a teacher, check with your finance director of your school district.

I've insured lots of school districts.  The GL policy for the entire district can include foreign GL (for suits brought in other countries).  The standard GL policy includes worldwide liability coverage for suits brought in the US.  

The group travel accident policy includes any school sponsored trip, including overseas (but coverage is limited to emergencies).  

Of course, neither policy will cover if there's currently a department of state advisory against traveling to that country.  

If you want to buy it on your own, the minimum premium for foreign GL coverage is $2500, and the minimum premium for group travel accident coverage for students is $750.   And neither will cover YOU for any defense related to abuse or molestation.
