I work at a daycare center and I am always looking to see if there are any free supplies that we can recieve. Does anyone know of any websites etc that would have such free supplies. We do not have a bug budget so this always helps us and the children. Thanks for your help.

  1. as a fellow pre k and k teacher I learned not to be shy about asking for things I needed in my classroom....In most communities larger businesses are more than willing to donate what they can I have gotten scrap wood, paper, office supplies, old office machines(phones, tables, calculators) and a variety of other items....Parents are also a good source of things(even in lower income homes they can save things like toilet paper/ paper towel rolls, old magazines/newspapers, old clothes (for dramatic play areas, or for art supplies/paint shirts), old kitchen items for both cooking and use in classroom areas....and parents are a great resource themselves...they can help in classrooms during times when there are complicated projects going on and for field trips, and some even help by preparing items for projects or by calling other parents for help or to come to demonstrate their jobs/professions(I once had a parent who was a supervisor at a waste management bring in a real garbage truck--sanitazed of course so the children could examine it inside/out)....

and even community agencies are willing to help too...with visits from museums to share their collections, visits from Smokey the bear or other characters who bring special messages to the children/or their parents....or those who share their expertise in doing something special for a needy family....

Dont Be Shy....Step up and ask ....Open a door and show the children their community cares about them...if you get a donation its always nice to recognize the organization or business by having the children send a thank you card too.

  2. hamberger                 respect

    crayons                    i pod

    licence                     name

    PS 3

    xbox  360

    halal things

  3. Sorry not too many free items out there for us poor teachers.  Staples of course has already been mentioned and pick up.  It's a notebook and office supplies, which does help. Sometimes Crayola and Lakeshore offer contests and/or wish list that you might have to compete for.

  4. im not sure if you mean you are a teacher or just daycare, but if you work at a school and have your teaching license thing. at office max you get a huge discount.  i know cuz my mom is a teacher

  5. check the stores for back to school specials right now, like crayons for 5 cents and folders for 10 cents

  6. Check freecycle.com  They may have items that you could use

  7. While you are waiting for the community to kick in with free supplies, live by the motto Waste Not, Want Not.  Teach children to cut patterns from paper in the most economical way, not from the center.  Take the "scraps" of paper left over to use in a mosaic art project.  Use crayon bits and pieces to create "stained glass windows" with your help using an iron and wax paper.  Recycle everything, save plastic bottles, etc to use for paint. You will begin to see things that can be used and become a professional pack rat!

Make your own art dough to play with:

    1 cup flour

    1/2 cup salt

    2 T. cream of tartar

    2 T. veg oil

    1 cup water

1 dry package of cherry jello

    red food coloring

Cook on medium heat, stiring until it begins to pull away form the sides, Store in air-tight containers (you know where these come from lol) This activity helps students to learn about measuring, heat, etc. besides artistic expression even if they watch your demonstration.

And there are organizations (such as COLLIE) that will donate free books.

  8. Staples teacher's rewards program will give you discounts on supplies....
