  1. A couple, as I am very loathe to recommend any particular method in case it goes wrong and I get the blame!

    1. I assume you in a member of the National Union of Students UK? If not please join, they have a large amount of information that would be of use to you.

    2. If you know what area of France you wish to visit, contact the Tourist Information Bureau for that area. They will be able (and happy to) provide you with addresses/telephone numbers etc of any local 'friendship' organisations, local schools, colleges etc. From these you could quite easily arrange an 'exchange'.

    3. Get a list of French Universities from the French Consulate in London (free of charge) - choose some in areas of France you wish to visit and contact the University direct - there are plenty of French students who would love to host an English speaker for purposes of their studies and vice versa of course

Good Luck - you will love it!
