Right now i put her to bed at 10 at night and wake her up at 10 in the morning. I have to leave at 7 for school and that is when i would like to start waking her up and putting her to sleep at maybe 7 at night.. the problem is what do i do on the weekend? I cant wake up at 7 on the weekends .. usually i wake up at 10 on the weekends. Would it be unhealthy for my bird if on the weekends i woke her up at ten in the morning and put her to sleep at ten in the evening?

  1. umm have your mom just wake him up at 10 every day?

  2. Birds in the wild, regularly just wake up whenever everyone does (sometimes earlier). If you wake up the bird at 7am in the morning for school, it won't really matter because she will 70% go back to sleep, since she won't have no one to play with her. So, don't worry.

  3. I'm not really sure. maybe try slowly changing the times... like each day wake her up a half hour early. and each day go down a bit.

I don't think it's going to be too "unhealthy". My aunt has cockatiels and parakeets and she changes there sleeping times like every day.

I had the same problem as you do back when I had a parakeet, one night i just realized he was talking to himself at like 2 in the morning so he was awake anyway and I just stopped covering him up at night and let him pick when he slept. I would cover him when it got cold at night though.

  4. Hello.

I don't understand the word waking up the bird ? I have a bird room full of birds, 3 aviaries outsides in the back yard ...when the sun just has a little light ( about 5 am in the morning ) my birds get up and start chattering or eating already ...no one wake them up and it seems like they wake me up.

If you go to school at 7 am, the bird will get up as the same time as soon as you turn the light to get dress . When you turn the light off for bed, the bird will go to sleep too .At least that what they do at my place ...300 of them . TM.

  5. Wait why do you have to wake your bird up, and then put her to bed?
