I've been thinking about the military for a while now and you do not need a diploma for the military. So why waste my time and add more stress to my life dealing with 2 more years of skool?

  1. stay in school, im currently enlisted into the navy, i am a high school senior for the SEAL program. (you can join as a senior but cant leave until after you graduate) At some times still they do not accept GED's usually early in the fiscal year, so you would have to enlist sept, october-ish. If you were to enlist now they would help you with your homework and stuff, thats what mine do at least. They will make sure that you graduate.

  2. yeah if ur determined enough go for it. u know if u really wanna go back to school i heard the military pays for college if ur done serving a few years and wanna go get more education.

  3. Stay in school and graduate---they can't take you till you are 18...   School might be easier if you stop smoking tropical plants...

  4. Talk to a local recruiter.

At one time they would not accept GED

Pretty sure they will help you get one now

  5. Regardless of what you choose there will be difficulties in both. There are other options available to you apart from going into the military, these being studying something  that you have an interest  n.Many  intelligent people have found that school was not for them either and have done other things with their lives

  6. My husband is in the military and joined on July 3.  Remember that date, it is important.  He graduated boot camp on September 5, was sent to Pensacola, FL for schooling and left in January.  From there, he was sent to Virginia Beach, VA for more training.  He gradutated from that training and checked into his first command on July 3.

So from boot camp to his first command where he could do his job and work was 1 year.  But wait, it gets better.  Upon checking into his first command, he was sent TAD (temporary active duty) to another squadron (for more schooling), was sent to the shooter shack (basically to do whatever they said).  While in the shooter shack, he was fortunate, and was able to work on something close to what he was suppossed to do but there were others who were far less fortunate and ended up painting the fire hydrants, doing continual FOD walkdowns (looking for small pieces of trash on the ground) and other menial tasks.

Don't get me wrong, the military has been good to us.  We have awesome benefits and know we have a steady income, but in over 5 years in the military, he has spent less than 2 years doing the job he enlisted to do.

Recruiters will tell you what you want to hear.  They are not "allowed" to lie to you, but vague questions get vague answers and they know how to answer you so that you hear what you want to hear.

If they pay for you to get your GED, they own you.  If you enlist, they own you.  If you do not get it in writing the military can do anything they want.

Becareful before you make a decision.  Whether they tell you it or not, most enlistments are for 8 years.  Which means even after you "get out" you will be on the reserve list for the remainder of your 8 years.

Talk to a recruiter but take your mom or dad or someone who has been in the military and will ask questions from a different point of view.
