School kids to swear loyalty to the state - wrong way round?

This is another suggestion by G Browns labour government to promote 'britishess'.

Seems to me it is the state that needs to swear loyalty to the british people - when our parliament shows such contempt to the people that they can renague on a manifesto promises (eu 'not the constitution' referrendum) without the slightest shame - whose benefit is this country being run for?

Europeans may be in service to their state - but here in the UK it is suppsed to be the other way around.

  1. Definitely the wrong way round.

  2. I don't know about getting schoolkids to swear loyalty to the state, it's about time this government spent more of an effort on protecting the kids from perverts and under age s*x, all they seem to be interested in is under age grooming of our children to suit the vociferous perverted minority who think it's cool to steal our children innocence

  3. I agree, in a democracy "the people" should never have to swear loyalty to the state - the state should have to prove its worth constantly to the people so that loyalty is given freely.

I think he is worried about the effects of migration of other cultures into Britain, nationalist movements in Scotland, Wales & Ireland, and of course all those crazy punk kids out there causing trouble. So you can kind of see where a British PM might want to promote some form of British Patriotism to hold the whole thing together.

Or it could of course just be a cynical play for the votes of all those conservatives who think along the same lines. He's been saying this kind of thing for a long time though so probably believes it himself.

  4. Given the degraded state of education in this country I think the State should be swearing loyalty to our schoolchildren and apologising for selling their futures.

  5. Indeed.  Labour needs a jolly firm kick up the backside, or a reality check.

  6. well it worked for Hitler. who!! strangely had very similar political views as the new labour party. keep a close eye out for the little socialist uniforms. they usually follow...WHAT!! is that fool smoking? 'is what i want to know. its like were moving towards this ominous dictatorship and every one seems frozen with dis belief. the man is even starting to look! like a raving lunatic.
