Question:

School lunch ideas for picky 5 year-old?

In about 2 weeks it will be my 5 year-old's first time in school. She doesn't like most of the things they serve at her school (I've seem their menu), because she is very picky and I kinda like to know what she is eating and wouldn't wanna force her to eat something that she doesn't like. She really hates PBJ and steamed veggies, as well as raw veggies, although she will eat it if mixed with something else, or with a side of rice, beans, etc. Any ideas? It can't be junk food though.

Thanks!

  1. I hate pbj too! Haha.

    Pack her lunch.

Get her like a ham or turkey or chicken salad sandwich.

Pack her a water or flavored water.

Get her some apple sauce or yogurt

    Get her like a bananna.

Then a small desert. Like a little debbie.

  2. Lunchables are popular for kids these days. Some days give her that.

Also, does she like turkey or ham? If so pack her a turkey or ham sandwhich with a side of fruit or rice. If she doesn't like turkey or ham, do a cheese wrap.

    Good luck!

  3. pack anything she likes that can go without being refrigerated for a few hours. my youngest is picky like this. her lunch usually consists of a sandwich, apple slices, string cheese, yogurt, grapes, cookies, pretzels, some kind of juice box, really all sorts of things. kids like simple foods so lunches shouldn't be a problem.

stay away from lunchables. you'd be better of just sending her with a bad of chips and a pepsi. the sodium content is extremely high, so is the fat. they aren't a healthy choice at all.

  4. Lots of fruit, maybe lunchables?, kids always like crackers, cheese and meat together

  5. Try out this book you can buty from amazon.  http://www.amazon.co.uk/Annabel-Karmels-... Its fantastic

  6. First, invest in a good set of little tupper ware, a lunch pail, and sandwich baggies. Will she eat cut up veggies if you pack a side of ranch? Fresh fruit is always a good idea. Any type of sandwich she will eat. Left overs that don't really need to be heated. Cheese and crackers. It might encourage her to eat the other foods if you add a treat like the natural type of fruit roll-ups or pudding. Juice boxes!

PS Stay away from lunchables- they're expensive and not healthy! Also, try things like string cheese, yogurt, apple sauce, etc.

  7. Just give her a packed lunch.

  8. how about ants on a log? you put peanut butter and raisins on a stalk of celery. You could also make grilled cheese sandwiches, and put a fruit salad on the side.

  9. pasta salad?

cook the pasta and rinse in cold water for a couple of minutes

add some cut up veggies and put in a sealed dish

you can do a similar thing with couscous.

cook as instructions say. add fruit or veg as it has a neutral taste

  10. Pack lunch for any day you know she won't eat if she doesnt like pb&j  check out the link below they have several healthy recipes she might like and that can be taken to school for lunch hope this helps
