School shopping for a kindergartner?

Where are some good stores to go for new school clothes? My son will be starting kindergarten in about a month and want to get him some nice clothes. Nothing too outrageously expensive of course, but stuff he will look good in and easy to wash up. I really like Old Navy stuff but I have such a hard time finding pants to fit him. The adjustable waist band pants are awesome but I'm not sure what all stores offer them. He'll be 6 in October and has the waist of a 3 year old lol. Anyone with some good advice, even websites for the stores would be great. Thanks!

walmart has decent clothes for children. the kids do not know the difference between the name brands, and im sure you will find nice clothes there really reasonably priced

My son starts kindergarten next week.  We went to a few different stores that have a variety of prices.  Luv Old Navy - Kohls and JCPenney have a nice selection that have the adjustable waistbands.  I like to get him a few nice button down shirts from Gymboree - they have a big back-to-school sale going on right now.  Also, I don't know where you're at, but if you have a "Steve & Barry's" in any of your malls - they have jeans and shirts for $8 and under - sturdy jeans.

Target is my favorite store for my 6 and 4 year old!  I like the Circo and Cherokee Brands.  I find they wear and wash well.  Also, they have great sales, making it easy to stock up.  In fact we just went there today to get shoes and supplies (both on sale)!

BTW - my son is the same.  He's 4 and tall, but a peanut.  I have to buy him the 5 pants for the length, but I get pants with elastic, or adjustable waists.

I have not seen any kid pants without adjustable waist bands. Ive seen them at Wal-Mart, JcPenney, Sears and Old Navy.

Oh, and those are stores I recommend =)
