They don't teach atheism, they teach science.  Science teaches provable facts.

Schools do not teach atheism.  Also they are not to teach a preference for any religion.  This is called "separation of church and state" and it allows children from all belief systems to be educated.

If you happen to be referring to teaching evolution, sorry, but evolution is a fact and we have known that for over 100 years.  If this is a problem for your belief system, take it up with your deity.

But I will answer your question. It's the same reason why they don't teach about Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Paganism, or Satanism: A little thing called 'Separation of church and state'. Religion is faith-based, and does not belong in an institute devoted to fact-based knowledge.

Why are churches so adamant in spreading Jesus? Schools are not in business of spreading faiths. It is not a schools job to convert people through indoctrination to be christians. In many of the burroughs of New York, you would be part of a religious minority; with your argument you should be converted to a different religion. It is plain to see you were not very well educated, when you can't even use spell checker for the spelling of adamant.

For starts, because there is more than one type of religion in your country.  Even if schools were to preach Christianity (which I'm guessing is what you want them to do), there are so many denominations that there would be arguments all over the place.  Is it really fair for the school, which is responsible for educating all children, to pick one religion and preach that to the children, or should it be the parents' choice as to what religion their child is brought up in, hmm?

most of my teachers are outspoken christians...schools usually generate a feelingn of "tolerance" rather than athiesm...which really is the opposite of a faith if you ask me....

Certainly not Christians, who can not themselves agree upon what their faith is. Which faith would you like to spread your message about Jesus, it can be spread by Catholics, or maybe Mormons, or Baptists, Holy Rollers, that sect that plays with rattle snakes, Jehovah's witness', Jews for Jesus?

You see if we keep religion out of schools you are free to teach your children according to your faith.

Put religion in schools; and which religion that is will change with whatever regime happens to be in power.
