  1. It sounds like you are worried about this trip because you feel if it weren't your first year in public school, you'd know.

Well, not all schools have school trips, and not all kids can go on the trips that are offered. So don't let that little aspect get to you--it doesn't matter if you've been in school or not before. It really doesn't.

Basically, expect the kids to be crazy and getting away with things behind the teachers'/chaperones' backs as much as possible. :) Especially the boys. At least, that's how it was when I went on my school trips in jr. high. I didn't do trips in high school.

  2. They're like feild trips or educational outings you'd go on as a homeschooler, only you can't enjoy and take things in at your own pace because you've got to rushrushrush to the next activity so you can get out of there and get back to school and stay on schedule. Sometimes you have to have a "buddy" or stay in a group, which can increase safety and sometimes be fun, but your partners might not be interested in the parts of the trip that you're interested in, and so you wont get a lot of time for them. They might also be trouble makers and get the entire group in trouble. In fact, it's likely that the entire class/grade going on the trip won't care at all about the educational aspect or want to learn anything from the experience and will just cause trouble and you'll spend the whole tirp getting yelled at by teachers and may not be allowed on future trips because of something someone else did. You may be expected to take notes and memorize facts you hear so you can pass some test and meet some state standard....

    or...

you may have an incredible experience. But from my own personal experiences, I've found that a lot of school trips (except for a few when I was in a gifted program) were like this, and my field trips and outings as a homeschooler are much more enjoyable.

  3. You go along with the teacher and the others and you also listen and follow instructions.  it shold be fun and not hard to do wherever they decide to go and do.
