My husband is a US citizen and I will be entering the US in a few months on a K3 non-immigrant visa. I want to know if i can attend college under this status. Note that K3 holders do not get social security numbers.

  1. Once you are in US, you need to file for Adjustment of Status by filing I-485 along with all other papers. Upon approval you will become US Permanent Resident or also known as US Green card holder. And you will get social security number. As PR, you can live, work and go to school as long as you want to. You can also apply for federal financial aid for your tuition. Good luck!
