Question:

Schoolmasters for sale?

I'm looking for a horse for my mom. She's just starting to ride, and she wants a horse that she can learn on. She needs a horse that is forgiving if she makes a couple of mistakes (as we all did when we were just starting out), preferably a schoolmaster, but it doesn't have to be. Just one that can do dressage that she can learn on. She also needs a safe, sane horse, as she's had quite a few bad experiences, so she needs to get her confidence up. I know, it's a lot to ask. I've looked on Dreamhorse.com and a couple of those websites, and we've found a few prospects, but if you know of any that might work, please post! I'd be very appreciative!

  1. email me on how much you are willing to spend and I would be more then happy to help you find a horse that suits your needs. I know of a ton! Just need to know what you are looking for.

  2. for local sales check www.craigslist.org then my next favorite is www.equinehits.com because there are free picture ads so more people post there.. then check your local paper.. good luck!

  3. I know of a fox trotter that rides like a cadillac for $1500.  Broke well enough that you could put a kid on it and still feel safe.  Loves people a lot and comes over to be petted.  Likes adults but loves kids.  Respectful on the ground and under the saddle.  A really amazing horse.   I really wanted the horse but but finances did not allow this year.  Only bad thing is that she has not ridden trails much so has not experienced all the spooky things seen on trails.  Her entire life was arena riding with show training.  Oh and excellant conformation in everything except that she is plump due to not being ridden the long distances and being absolutely pampered (not spoiled just pampered).  If you can get to Central MO the horse was nearby.  I could find the name of the owner if you are interested.  e-mail me.  If you have never ridden a gaited horse you are in for a real treat.  In fact with this horse you are in for a treat anyway.  I have not been on a handful that could travel as well and darn few that could travel better.  But no she is not a dressage horse.

PS  If you do get the horse, I am going to be jealous!!!!

  4. If she's only starting I wouldn't get any horse.
