Schools in New Jersey?

Hi!

I am planning to move from California to new jersey. I have elementary school going child. I wanted to know about the schools in New Jersey. The school ratings there do not seem to be as good as California. So am confused. Would like to know the views and opinion of someone who has done this move.

It depends where in New Jersey and what kind:

private, public, or boarding.

But these websites would give you a rank and also parents reviews.

I only have anecdotal evidence. My neighbor moved their 4 children from Sunnyvale, Ca to  Flemington, NJ while their 4 kids in were in elementary school.  They had problems with their children adapting to the NJ school system. They weren't as prepared for their entry into grades 1 through 6. Their children all had to take remedial classes and were especially behind in math.

Again it's anecdotal, but in general NJ has been noted as having the best schools systems in the US. Not sure where you have your info on them being not as good as California. Proposition 13 destroyed the California education system and put it on par with the poorer southern states.

Also according to Newswek the 5 best high schools in the nation are either in NYC or NJ.

i never been to new jersey but i am gonna go to a school in california..

i was planning on going to boarding school in new jersey because not only does new jersey have a better education, but have an the top ivy league university located there.. i think

california is in the low rank of "smartest states" , i believe.. while new jersey in the higher..

..i personally think that the east coast provides students with better education...depending on which school you are sending your child too though.. not all schools in a specific state will have a good education..
