Schulanfage?

I'm trying to find a Schulanfage for my son. It's a cone shaped thing that has little trinkets and gifts for your first day of school. I'm in Virginia, in the states and I can't find anything on the web to buy one.

  1. They are selling stuff like that here in Germany also in the bookstores. You need to look on line, but I don't know right now where, I hope there is some more people answering your question and you get more help. Sorry.

I just look for you www.germanplaza.com and see the stuff you are looking for that.

  2. What you're looking for is called a "Schultüte" and is usually given to a child when they start first grade.  The Schultüte is usually filled with crayons, erasers, small toys, candy, stuff that make a first grader happy.  You might try looking on the German Ebay www.ebay.de.  You could also maybe find instructions for making one on the internet.  I made my son's when he started school and it turned out really nice.  Can you read German?  Here's a website where they tell you how to make one:  www.schultuete-basteln.de.  Good luck!

  3. Hi! I'm from Germany and I can tell you it's called "Schultüte". The children receive them when they start school at age 6 (first grade). You can buy them in just about any store over here, however, you can also make them yourself. Not sure how good your German is, but here are links on how to make them:

Or maybe this will already help a little:

On a sheet of square poster board, decorate with crayons, markers, lace doilies, buttons, glitter, etc. Roll into a cone shape and glue the overlapping edges.  Glue a wide strip of soft paper, such as tissue paper or crepe paper, to the inside of the cone so that most of the paper sticks up above the cone. Fill the cone with little goodies, such as pencils, erasers, stickers, candy, etc., then tie the paper closed with a ribbon.

  5. You mean a SCHULTUETE. You can order it over the internet or better would be if you would make one yourself with your son.

    Look at this website:

    Have fun!

  6. Actually, it is "Schulanfang" and the website is www.schulanfang.com  -- a German site with exactly the type of things you are describing!

  7. That is a German tradition to fill up the big cone with candy's on your first day. Go to the "Woolworth" or "Kaufhof" website and they might have them. Stuff a sweater or stuffed animal on the bottom of it and fill up the rest with candies. I am not sure, but I believe the cones might be called a "Schultuete".
