Schumacher determined to have fun at Spa-Francorchamps
The Formula One caravan is all set to move towards its next destination for the Belgian GP 2010. The 13th race of the season is scheduled to take place on this Sunday at the beautiful Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium. The Formula One squad seems thrilled and enthusiastic as it returns to the race after a break of three weeks; all drenched with a new spirit to regain competitive racing.
All drivers and teams are looking forwards to the sporting event with much anticipation and excitement as the race will ignite the last but most crucial part of the season which will decide the title winner for the 2010 season.
At this juncture, when leading drivers are struggling to win, other drivers are trying to give in their best to end 2010 at the best possible position.
Seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher is one of them. Despite all the poor races that he has had all through 2010, the German did not lose heart. Consequently, Schumacher enters the next race with a lot of optimism and positivity.
While talking to Formula One's official website, the German said that he is expecting a great driving experience on his all-time favourite Spa-Francorchamps circuit which has always proved to be very lucky for him.
Though the season had all together been a rough one for him, but this race in particular offers little luck as it has already been shadowed by a ten place grid demotion after the German’s misconduct at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
At Budapest, Hungary he pushed his former teammate Rubens Barrichello so close to the pit wall that the latter was hardly able to prevent his car from scraping the wall at a time when he was already at a speed of about 180 mph. Following the incident, the 41-year-old driver opined that he had no intentions of hurting his old teammate. Instead, he was only trying to prevent him from getting past him which is part and parcel of motor racing.
Michael Schumacher holds the record for winning six wins at Spa during his career. And now as the racer prepares for the upcoming Grand Prix, Schumacher is determined to have a great time.
He exclaimed that the track had been his favourite since always which alone is a good enough reason for him to look forward for an exciting race weekend. Schumacher added that it felt as if he last went there a long time back. The driver is wishing to add some more memories to his already big stock of superb recollections at Spa-Francorchamps.
As he gave more details regarding the weekend race, Schumacher expressed that he knows the team is not very hopeful because of the grid penalty that they have already been handed. Plus, Michael Schumacher knew he could not expect anything special from the race. He said, “On the other hand, every racing kilometre is important and welcome because we can learn from it with regards to our car. I will definitely try to make the best out of the weekend.”
The other Mercedes driver, Nico Rosberg has had a more relishing season so far as compared to Schumacher. He hoped to add some more points to his 94 point tally. Currently, Rosberg stands at seventh place in the drivers’ standings of the 2010 season.
