Schumacher needs to listen to his head now
Some people never change, year after year they are bound to stay the same, this time this is being said about the seven times Formula One World Champion, Michael Schumacher.
"He is prepared to do anything to win, to prevent anyone else from beating him. That is reflected by his actions."
These words were uttered by Damon Hill in a television interview around twenty-years back while he was explaining what actually fuelled Schumacher on track.
Now after a period of two decades one could undoubtedly say the same about the Mercedes driver. Nothing has changed much as one still sees the same aggression and rivalry when it is Schumacher on the track. The reckless manoeuvre on Rubens Barrichello last Sunday at Hungarian Grand Prix depicted his uncontrolled nature, once again. When it comes to retaining his place or when some points are on stake he could stand up to do absolutely anything.
Even though this is one side of his personality, yet it is a shock to learn from his family and friends about how devoted and loving husband, father and friend he really is.
Yes! It is a fact that the past few press conferences have portrayed a mellow form of the aggressive and belligerent racer, when he goes to the track the bitter man is visible again.
It would really be ridiculous if one expects to see forty-one year old habits and personality being changed now. The reflexes and the responses of the old racer come out every now and then and one of such instances was seen in the last race.
This time it was Rubens Barrichello who faced the heat of the driver, as the former hardly prevented his mate from getting stamped on the pit wall. As the two were racing alongside at one of the very few straights that the Hungaroring offers, Barrichello attempted to overtake Schumacher, who ruthlessly edged him to prevent the Spanish from moving beyond.
It reminds all the Formula One followers of the day when Barrichello stood aside and handed his victory to Schumacher during their sixth year of being together in Ferrari, as the German required to win the race to make his record of 91 race wins and the seventh World title.
Now, it was only the tenth place for which the two were struggling, which Schumacher should have graciously handed him as he was able to get it, anyway and only left the forty-one year old driver with a ten- place penalty for grid for the next race.
Well, one cannot deny the fact that when it comes to racing it is a competition and all the competitors need to push to the limit.
However, for Schumacher things are different, he is often seen moving beyond the limits. The line between being competitive and winning at any cost has been often seen fading when the German is on the track.
In the year 1994 when the racing-icon grabbed his first victory.Only after a period of three years Schumacher was seen ending up in the gravel while he attempted to prevent Jacques Villeneuve from completing a pass. It left Schumacher stripped of all his Championship points for that year while Villeneuve went away with the title.
It was repeated again at Monaco in 2006 when the bitter racer deliberately parked his Ferrari at La Rascasse, depriving Fernando Alonso from pole position.
And now in Hungary yet another dirty act by the great racer was witnessed.
The analysts now believe that the legendry racer must listen to his head instead of his heart, as he had already made enough damage to his repute by returning to the track this season. It is time that he packs up for the final farewell from Formula One.
