Schwartzkopf British rank insignia?

During Operation Desert Storm Gen Schwarzkopf wore a tab on his pocket with British rank insignia. What did it represent and why did he wear it?

It was actually the Saudi Arabian rank insignia for a General - equivalent to an American 4 Star General which Schwarzkopf was.  

The Saudi, and most other mid-east countries, rank insignia was based on the British system.

I dont think it was British I heard he had a rank of PFC from the French Foreign Legion
