The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 international insisted that the French winger should have remained in control, while also commending their Bavarian neighbours and DFB-Pokal rivals, FC Augsburg
Bayern Munich central midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bastian-Schweinsteiger-c7374 was critical of his team-mate Franck Ribery’s sending off in his side’s 2-0 German Cup triumph over fierce rivals FC Augsburg on Tuesday. He claimed that the attacking midfielder
should have controlled his anger in the mid-week clash.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international was dismissed following his altercation with Ja-Cheol Koo right after the interval, and his teammate believes that the star player should have reacted in a more decent manner and not lost his cool. The
defensive midfielder stated that Ribery should not have made it easier for the referee to send him off.
Moreover, he said that the winger needs to control his temper, even though it is really hard. On the other hand, he suggested that he was very happy with Der FCB’s fine displays following the red card. He also appreciated the efforts
of Bavarian rivals’ Augsburg who tried their level best to trouble the league leaders.
"Obviously, Franck Ribery shouldn't be picking up a red card. He has to control himself, although it's not easy," the former Bayern Munich and TSV 1860 Rosenheim youth academy player was quoted as saying in an interview.
The 28-year-old further added that his team did extremely well with a man down and created more opportunities on the counter-attack. Nevertheless, he maintained that he wants the opposition side to avoid the drop to the second-division
this season because they have a decent team.
"I had the feeling we kept it tighter with 10 men and created good chances on the break,” the 2012 UEFA Champions League runner-up added.
"I hope Augsburg stay in the Bundesliga, because they have a team worthy of 10th place or so. I'm puzzled as to why they're down at the bottom," the 2008 UEFA European Football Championships finalist finally concluded.
Schweinsteiger conceded that Augsburg can finish as high as 10th place, and said he cannot comprehend why they are struggling in the Bundesliga. Bayern will now enjoy the winter break until January.
