The Bayern Munich midfielder has expressed his desire to play a part in his side’s UEFA Champions League fixture against FC Basel at home.

Schweinsteiger, who made a return from an ankle injury this past weekend against Hoffenheim, has stated that he is fired up for the European clash. The midfielder insisted that he wants to play his part in leading his side to the
quarter-final of the competition.
When asked regarding his chances to start the game, the player stated that it will be up to the manager to decide whether he starts or comes in as a substitute later on. He expressed his delight on returning from injury and is
confident about his fitness in the remaining games of the season.
“Naturally, I'm fired up and I want to play. Whether I play is a secondary issue. It's more important that we win as a team and that the club hits its targets. I'm just delighted to be fit and back again,” he was quoted as saying
in an interview to the club’s official website.
Schweinsteiger admitted that he felt honoured with the reception he got from the Bayern fans when he came on as a substitute against Hoffenheim. The player insisted that he still needs match practice as he has been out from the
game for a month.
The German added that he would love to play a role in the match but even if that does not happen, he would definitely support the team from the touchline.
“It was a very nice reception. I need playing time and good training sessions. If I play, I'll be delighted. If I don't play, I'll enjoy the match and I'll try and cheer on the team from the touchlines,” he concluded.
Bayern Munich need to win with at least a two-goal margin to progress further in the competition.
