    Dune by Frank Herbert

Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein

  2. The Abhorsen Trilogy (Sabriel, Lirael, and Abhorsen) by Garth Nix is a great fantasy series. They are listed as young adult on Amazon for some reason, but don't worry, they don't read like teen books at all. They're some of my favorite books, and I read a lot of the authors you listed, so I think you'd like them.

  3. you've probably heard of it but His Dark Materials series (Golden Compass, Subtle Knife, Amber Spyglass)

  5. Hi !

Bladerunner(original title : Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep) by Philip K. d**k .

    :0)

  6. HAHA  Twilight is the best!!!  I'll bet you haven't even read it!!!

but i guess if your a freak who doesnt like ROMANCE or omg i can't beleive i'm actually saying this ...  I never seirously thoguht that there was a person who couldn't relate to twilight!!!  i mean come on VAMPIRES ROCK!!!   Well at least stephenie meyer's vampires do!

  7. Jim Butcher's series The Dresden Files - Storm Front (ISBN9780451457813) - Excellent dark fantasy in a modern setting. Like Pratchett's satire crossed with Gaiman's irreverence. Keeps getting better as the series goes on.

King Rat and Perdido Street Station by China Mieville (ISBN9780345459404) - Fair, not the best I've ever read but definitely appeals to some.

Syne Mitchell's The Last Mortal Man (ISBN9780451460943) truly surprised me by being excellent. Normally I can't stand futuristic scifi for the lack of intelligentt discourse, but this one doesn't talk down to the reader nor does it assume that everyone is going to know what all the technical terms are.

  8. HorseLover02 is kind of crazy. I kind of want to smack some sense into her.

You might like Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynn Jones. There IS romance, but really it's just a tad at the very end. I'm sure its bearable :) I also liked Chris Wooding- he's got a sci-fi called Storm Thief and a fantasy called Poison (which is better than Storm Thief, in my opinion). And then there's a fantasy/horror called The Haunting of Alaizabel Cray.

Hope that helped. Good luck on your search.

  9. You should read the book Uglies. There's a little romance though... It's good. It's Sci-Fi and it's based in the future- ish. It's a series by Scott Westerfield
