I was wondering whether anyone has any ideas for activities for science, maths and tech for preschoolers? Or if you know of any websites that have information (with pictures would be better.), that would be great, thanks.

  1. For science you could get them outside to try and draw the "pretty flowers" and see how many know the names of the flowers, or you tell them.

For maths you could play a game where you get each person to pick a number out of a hat which has the number 1-10 and they have to find their match to make 10, or 3 versions of that for a class of 30.

I apologize for technology but I have absolutely no idea.

  2. Search for books here - http://www.ubah.com/g2687

Not only are Usborne books great, many are also internet linked, so you can find activities, games, printables, etc on a particular subject!  Look for the book called "Eggs and Chicks" as a good example for this age group.

  4. tons of books - science experiments with food - building things out of paper cups, blocks, cards, stuff like that - math start collecting things like milk caps, keys, old marker caps, stuff to sort -group and separate - be creative just playing market shopping and using play money uses math skills -

  5. I just had to do an assignment on this topic for uni- I had to observe a child to see what their interets/ strengths were in relation to Maths, Sci and Tech, and plan an experience based on this.

My plan focused on 'Classification', which is a maths topic, though it is also a form of scientific enquiry. To support the technology aspect, I provided the children with magnifying glasses.

I provided natural materials, e.g. rocks, leaves, flowers and shells, and this also allowed for discussion of science topics, e.g. plants biology and natural vs man-made

  6. -Making ice cubes and then watching them melt.

-Water play: jugs, bottles etc-concepts of full and heavy/empty and light.

-Building towers-use language such as tall/short, big/small, samedifferent and could count the bricks then find out how to make other towers all the same height.

-Digital camera: let kids take photos of the real lif world eg: woodlands as this is technology and science(natural world)

-Cooking-technology (microwave/cooker), maths-counting out recipe, science-change in state eg: slppy mixture into a firm cake/bun.

    Websites:

    www.underfives.co.uk

Look up birth to three on www.surestart.gov.uk and look at the flash cards for each area as it has good ideas for under 3's.

www.crayola.com has craft dieas that can be used for science/maths

  7. Make it all into games so they'll have fun.

  8. You can install a program called type to learn, but that might be too advanced! You could get zoo pals! I had that when I was in kindergarten!
