  1. 1.) The athlete actually has less blood in their body, so they would become fatigued more easily because their aren&#039;t as many red blood cells to carry the oxygen from the lungs to the muscles.

    2.) The body uses iron to make hemoglobin, the compound on red blood cells that binds to the oxygen so that the cell can transport it around the body. If the body is low in iron, then not as much hemoglobin is present, and the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood isn&#039;t as high. The amount of red blood cells is the same but some of them can&#039;t carry oxygen. This would lead to the same effect, that the person would become fatigued more easily.


  2. 1) Blood is in short supply and unable to adequately supply all organs in the body under the demand of an extreme athletic exercise.  Person will pass out.

    2) Develops Anemia
