  1. A fuse is a piece of wire that will melt if excess current passes through it and protect the cable or circuit it is supplying. In some countries fuses are in the plug you put in the wall. Fuses are also in your house electricity distribution board and in the power supplies of your electrical appliances such as your PC.


  2. A fuse is mainly used in an electric circuit. It is found commonly in house-wiring circuits. It is a material having high electrical conductivity, low melting point. Whenever current more than a fixed limit flows through a circuit, the fuse made up of a special material, melts. Thus, it  breaks the circuit and protects the electrical equipments connected by the circuit.
