What are the advantages and the disadvantages of making product containers from plastic compared to using other materials, such as glass or aluminum?

Plastic is lightweight, easy to handle, cheaper to ship and cheper to make.

Glass is totally inert so it does not react with any ingredients inside, flavors stay the same, it also preserves contents better than plastic. Glass recycles cleaner and easier than either plastic or aluminum.

Aluminum is lightweight also but it cost a lot more than plastic.

Finally plastic and aluminum may affect people's health - aluminum has been linked to alzheimers disease and some plastics contain a chemical that causes people to gain weight.
