6. Propose a hypothesis to explain one reason why large organisms have developed from more cells rather than larger cells.

1.  Organisms that have many smaller cells, as opposed to a few large cells, are less sensitive to the death of any individual cell.  If your brain were just one cell, you would die completely if that one cell died.  

2.  Many small cells allow for anatomic specialization in relative small volumes.  This is particularly evident in the nervous system.

larger cells does not help in transporting things faster or letting waste materials diffuse out faster... more cells do help in making transportation faster...

i don't know what is a hypothesis... i just gave what i thought was the answer to this question.. hopes that helps.(=
