Science Olympiad Nationals?

Does anyone know if any Science Olympiad teams have gotten 1st in state but has decided to drop out of the National competition and not go to Washington DC? No bogus answers please.

I am sure that the Science Olympiad has procedures for when a team drops out or is removed, but I couldn't read the rules - to read them, you need to be a member.  

But that's where I think you could get the info.  I would suggest asking your own coach if she could check for you.  If that won't work because you don't want to tell your coach about your worries, perhaps you could ask the coach of another team?  Maybe not a direct competitor team.  Perhaps, as a participant, you could even write to the Science Olympiad yourself and ask.
