I have a 9 year old who is entering a science fair. He wants to build a volcano but I think every kid will have that one. Is there anything else fun that we can build? That anyone knows of. 3. Try that it's free and has LOTS of ideas!! Good Luck

  4. You can research on our solar system and help him make a solar system model using art supplies. Help him understand the global warming issue from this and present it to the audience using his model. This will help him and other kids to be inspired to get into science in depth.  I think that's the idea for these scence projects.

    Good luck!

  5. lol...yea, the old volcano project...everyone has done that...try to do a static electricity project to show the effects of static electricity..for example, if you rub a comb in your hair and stick it near a water fountain, the water moves, and if you touch the comb with pieces of paper, it will pick it up. good luck.

  8. You could weigh different foods (like peanuts etc), burn them to heat water, measure the rise in temperature, and derive the number of calories in the food.

You could build a solar cooker, by wrapping half a balloon in tin-foil, then removing balloon, and using the foil to cook a hot-dog.

You could water similar plants, one with tap water, one with room temperature water that had previously been boiled in a microwave, one with water boiled on a stove, and one with filtered (brita) water.  Compare health of plants after a few weeks.

You can download paper models of the international space station, print them, and cut and paste them together.

You could ask the local amateur radio club to assist in talking to the astronauts on board.
