Science fiction: If this happened in real life what do you think would happen?

If a person traveled to the past or future and visited themselves. Do you think time machines will ever be invented? What century?

I just heard the very same thing on paul harvey this wk and they can do this right now but ,,, but they said in order to do it you must first die and the new you goin somewhere ??? well nobody wants to be first ,,,, I guess ???   You can listen to paul harvey on internet by lookin him up ,,, I think it was wed or thurs ,,, oll nick,,,

Past  time no longer exists unless you mean in the sense that  light reflected from a source could still  be traveling in space.  So if you could travel faster than light and look "backward" you could see a reflection of yourself as you were in the past, in theory.  Of course the light is spreading the farther  you go from  the source and  we can't  seem to go  faster than light so it is all problematic.
