Science fiction fantasy books?

anyone know of any good scifi or fantasy books about plagues, bio hazard, end of world stuff. thanks in advance for your help.

I would recommend the book Dies the Fire (and its' sequels) by SM Stirling. These books are about a mysterious incident that causes electricity and gunpowder to no longer work. Man is thrust back in to pre-Industrial times and must relearn largely forgotten skills. The books follow the survival efforts of three clans and how they create alliances or battle each other in order to survive.

It's not a book, but the TV series Battlestar Galactica (the 2000s reimagining) has sparked a previously unsuspected love of post-apocalyptic fiction in me. It's an awesome, awesome show.

Read The Stand by Stephen King.

It's about a world forever changed when a government created "super-flu" wipes out most of the people.

It's a great read, FAR superior to the movie.

I've read it nine times over the years & it's my favorite book of all time.

The Andromeda Strain by Michael Crichton. There was recently TV remake of the novel, but I think the 1971 film is better.
