Please tell me why...when you dig a hole in the ground and then fill it back up(or try to)...WHY isn't it higher (because of the air that gets in it) instead of lower? It NEVER fills the hole up to the top! WHY?! WHY?! WHY?!

  1. dirty too.

  2. I've not experienced that. If I'm digging in compacted ground and refilling the hole, I'll end up with a mound at the end. That's because my filled-in hole won't be as compacted as it originally was. I'll also put the dirt directly into a wheelbarrow so I know all of it goes back into the hole.

If you're getting different results, I'd guess the ground you're digging in is not compacted, or you're not putting all the dirt back in.

  3. use for planting

the dirt quantity are same, i don't know

picture(example) let me see what are you talking about

  4. ...funny....I've always ended up with a mound because the freshly dug earth is less dense than it was before I dug it.

  5. The only thing I can think of is that when you are digging you are actually making a larger hole than what you are removing.  For example when I am gardening and stick a shovel or trowel in the ground, I wiggle it to loosen the dirt and am exerting a force toward and away from the center, so in a way, I am compacting the dirt at the edge in an outward fashion making the hole to fill slightly larger.
