Calculate the distance Earth and Mars each travels along it's orbit for one Earth day.

Do the planets travel at the same speed? If not, what are each of their speeds expressed in km/ earth day?

  1. The circumference is the distance they travel in one year.  You've been given the length of a year in terms of Earth days.  Just divide one by the other to get the distance they travel per day.

    For instance:  The Earth travels 942,000,000 km in a year, which is 365 days.  So it travels 942,000,000 km/365 day = 258,000 km/day.  That's the speed in km per day.  Take off the day and you get the distance:  258,000 km.

    Do the same for Mars.  No, they don't travel the same speed.
