Hey, I'm in 8th grade and I'm looking for a good idea for my science project.

Any suggestions?

  1. You could show the different levels of conductivity in fluids.

Water for example if pure, actually doesn't conduct electricity. Only when it is "tainted" does it conduct. You could start with pure distilled water with an ohm meter in it to show that there is no conductivity. You can then have a beaker of common tap water and show the level of conductivity in it. The minerals and salts are what increase the conductivity. You could do other liquids also like bleach and rubbing alcohol to show their levels of conductivity.

I guarantee that the majority of the population doesn't know that pure water doesn't conduct electricity and I doubt most teachers know that fact.

The container must be cleaned with alcohol and the water must be pure distilled water and the container must then be sealed to prevent contamination from airborne dust and pollutants. Even the oil on one fingerprint will change the water from non-conductive to conductive.

The other beakers won't matter if they are covered or not since they will already conduct electricity.

I just found this site that has the basic experiment but in an easy way.

  2. A science fair project should be picked only by the person that is performing the experiment because that person knows what interests them best. Your more likely to do a great science fair project on a topic you look over a project I recommend on a topic you may hate. Maybe give us an idea of what field- physics? biology? geology? environmental? chemistry? What field interests you most? Once you figure that out we can get a general idea on what your going for.

  3. sure....

how about a futuristic power project which runs on the dark energy which the scientists say is causing our universe to expand.

how about a model of newtons first law, and its description.

    regards hope it helped
