  1. Do some research on a food product that the government wants to turn into ethanol..if they subsidize it, it will mean 95% of farmland being taken for this..what are we going to eat and what will stock eat that cannot eat the bi product?  There is a lot of research available on the web...hint, N. and S. Dakot factories are shutting down and prices falling on the West Coast.  You will learn alot with this project in respect to agriculture and you will get an idea that you need to watch big brother because he cares nothing about us, just his deep pockets.  You can make ethanol right in your home or outside and it does not cost much...........try it.

  2. I did a year at agricultural college and one project I did was on the crop cycle, benefits of crop rotation, pest build up, effects of farming on wild life. Another interesting one I did was on the benefits of AI ( artificial insemination) pretty gross but I got a great mark.

  3. A good project for you would be Vermiculite or earthworm compost processing.

Recycling the organic waste of a household into compost allows us to return badly needed organic matter to the soil. In this way, we participate in nature's cycle, and cut down on garbage going into landfills. Worm composting is a method for recycling food waste into a rich, dark, earth-smelling soil conditioner. The great advantage of worm composting is that this can be done indoors and outdoors, thus allowing year round composting. Worm compost is made in a container filled with moistened bedding and red worms. Add your food waste for a period of time, and the worms and micro-organisms will eventually convert the entire contents into rich compost.

Use and weigh all of your kitchen garbage (no meat or fatty material). Consider your household as an average one in America and you can calculate the total amount of garbage that could be kept from our land fills in a year. Also weigh the amount of rich vermicompost that could be made and used as organic fertilizer from this garbage/year. I think you will come up with some shocking and interesting facts. It is easy and cheap to get started. Luck.

Here is a web site to read to get started.

  4. If you're interested in ethanol go one step further -- what happens to the grain after the ethanol is distilled ?

It's often used as livestock feed but how does it compare to using corn that hasn't been fermented?

I think this is being left out of the discussion.

Another idea would be to figure out how much a farmer gets of each consumer dollar spent at the grocery store -- for example, how much did a farmer get paid for the wheat in a loaf of bread? (don't forget milk, eggs, etc.)

I hope it will help you.

    Bye
