  1. Turns in to little tiny pieces on the ground

  2. Definately what T said.

They are filed down by friction against the tire from the road and the particles are expelled probably where-ever. If you think of the amount of time it takes for the tire stubble to completely dissapear, which is quite long, then they are worn down to perhaps microscopic particles, which effectively could be found in the air too.

  3. On the road.. When friction wears away the tread, it goes on the surface that does the wear and tear. I'm sure some of that debris ends up in the air and scattered on the sides of the road too.

How is this a social science question? Social science is more of psychology and human interaction. I think you need plain old science for your answer.

  4. It's actually shaved off by tiny gnomes while you sleep.  They use the stubble to stuff pillows for the village in the garden!

  5. they did a study on that to see if it was containinating the soil or waterways near highways, and they couldnt find any traces of it.

    Its a mystery
