  1. well since there are 5 tomato plants in his garden and .5kg per plant.  That would be 2.5 kg.  Since it is asking about his garden crop (and not green house crop) i would say that would be they answer... unless i am not understanding some part of the question

  2. 2.5 kg because you are only looking at the plants grown in his garden, not the greenhouse.  5 x 0.5 = 2.5 kg.

I think they just add stuff to scenarious of questions to confuse you or to teach you to look at the question more carefully.

  3. Hi Mira, Either the answer is very simple (5 times .5 = 2.5 kg) and the greenhouse plants are put in to confuse you or something is missing from your question. Review your question. If you have it right, you have your answer.

  4. When you talk about the mass of a thing, or how something masses, you are describing the force exerted, in this case on earth and in this case as an international standard, the gram or kilogram. So if you multiply .5 Kg per garden plant (only) and you have 5 total plants in that garden (only) then 5 times .5 is 2.5 kilograms. Had you said on the moon it would have been a mass of 1/6th that but as it isn't, it's all straight forward.
