Can anyone help me identify the significance of the law of universal gravitation for the relationship of religion and science?

  1. There is no relationship via this physical law.  Science is not religion nor religion science.


  2. The law of universal gravitation is a classical physics statement of the observed behavior of non-microscopic bodies. It is devoid of religious meaning.

  3. When Newton discovered the law, it was believed that the laws of the heavens were different than the laws of the earth.  Universal gravitation overthrew that idea.  Also, it removed the need to invoke god to explain the movement of bodies through space.
